Registration

Invalid Serial Number

If you receive a message at registration indicating the serial number is invalid this may be because it was entered incorrectly. Basic Cents™ serial numbers include both zeros and the letter O and it can be difficult to distinguish between the two. The zeros will be narrow and resemble an oval while the letter O will be wider and resemble a circle.

Unable to Connect to Server

If you are unable to register or activate your software please check the following:

  1. Be sure you are connected to the Internet
  2. Temporarily disable any firewalls such as Norton or MacAfee, during registration only.

Opening Program

EATT Income

If you receive an error message when you try to open your profile that says unable to compute EATT income you are still able to use certain aspects of the software. EATT income stands for Earnings After Tithes and Taxes and is the basis used to calculate suggested spending and other calculations within Basic Cents™.

Click OK on up to 3 error messages regarding this and your profile will open to the My Spending page. Click Update Profile, and click Next until you arrive on the Income panel. Fill in Salary, Tithes and Taxes and click Save. You will no longer receive the EATT error and the My Spending Calculations will be correct.

Debt Eliminator

Unable to compute debts/L2089 error

Basic Cents™ is not able to compute a debt free date for loans that do not seem to payoff because the minimum payment will not payoff the balance given the interest rate. This occurs for some credit cards, especially when the interest rate is high, as well as deferred interest and interest only loans. The solution is to increase the minimum payment of the loan.

Profile Changes Not Appearing in Debt Eliminator

If you have made a change in Update Profile under Debt and they are not updating in the Debt Eliminator, close out of the profile and reopen it. Your changes should then update.

Create/Update/Save Profile

Debt Tab: Unhandled Exception Error

This error may occur because a debt was entered directly into the debt table instead of through the Add Debt button. Double click on the debt, click Yes to delete and enter the debt again by clicking the Add Debt button, completing the information in the window and clicking Add when finished.
